The specific role of this school is the Christian formation of its students.

It exists:

  • To assist them in taking on the life-long personal conversion which the Christian life entails,

  • To encourage them to give themselves to God in daily life, in prayer and in reception of the Sacraments and

  • To grow in all the Christian virtues.

  • In their life in this school, they are helped to know and live their Catholic faith and to seek and do God's Will, especially through discerning and preparing for their specific life-vocation.

How we Integrate Faith and Life:
  • ŸWe offer systematic and coherent teaching of the truths of Catholic Doctrine.

  • ŸWe instruct the students throughout their schooling in the principles, doctrines and practical implications of Catholic Moral Teaching.

  • ŸWe inculcate an understanding and practice of the life of Virtue with special emphasis on the Theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity and the Cardinal Moral Virtues of Justice, Prudence, Temperance and Fortitude.

  • ŸWe help them to recognise and respond to the Will of God in day-to-day situations.

  • ŸWe provide ample opportunity for prayer - class prayer, individual prayer and above all the Sacred Liturgy.

  • ŸWe put before them the example and teachings of the Saints of the Catholic Church.

Pastoral Care

The Church teaches that the Catholic school should “guide men and women to human and Christian perfection” (RDECS: Para.34). Saint Mary Mackillop Colleges’ Pastoral Care Program creates structures by which students can do this.

The program is divided into three components:

  • general care of students.

  • the care of  individual students experiencing difficulties.

  • the care of student-groups in the once-a- term Pastoral Care Session.

See PASTORAL CARE for more details.
