FAQs

Is this a school solely for Catholics?

The formation of SMMC aims to form Catholic youth who will become strong Catholic men and women, light to the world. The Catholic worldview – with an emphasis on Truth and Charity – underlies the exploration of every topic.

How much is school tuition?

Fees are kept at a minimum and assistance is given to those in need. Discounts are provided for each additional child enrolled. Contact the school for our updated Tuition Costs.

What is the governance structure?

The students are taught by teachers, who are usually assisted by Coordinators. Above these is the Principal, who, plans the day-to-day running of the school under the guidance of the Directors who are advised by the school's Advisory Board.

Is there a school Library?

Reading and writing with real books and real paper is essential. From our Library of over 2,000 books every student chooses weekly reading to develop a love of learning and an interest in our beautiful world. The Library is managed by one of our Dominican Sisters according to high standards. Every family is encouraged to begin a home library and a 'Reading Hour' each evening.

Are extracurricular activities offered?

Options differ from year to year. There are usually a few sport teams, Chess teams and music options available.

Is homework expected?

Learning will flourish when time and effort create a space to learn deeply. Each grade has a set amount of homework which differs according to age and ability,

Can parents give feedback to SMMC?

Suggestions and feedback welcome! This helps us evaluate and improve. See the appropriate procedure in the 'ABOUT' section.

Are there jobs available at the school?

The school hires axillary staff, teacher aids, teachers, specialists and administration staff. We occasionally have openings and encourage expressions of interest from those who uphold our ethos. Send EOI to  admin@stmarymackillop.nsw.edu.au.
